What is dioctyl phthalate used for?
DIOCTYL PHTHALATE (DOP) An ester of phthalic acid. It appears as a light-colored, odorless liquid and is used as a plasticizer for many resins and elastomers. Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is one of the most cost effective and widely available general purpose plasticisers.

The most common are: diisononyl phthalate (DINP), diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP) and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP, sometimes also referred to as DOP),which have the well balanced properties described above. These plasticizers account for about 75% of all plasticisers used for PVC.
